British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (“BTCV”)
Established in 1959, BTVC is the UK’s largest practical conservation charity, annually involving 130,000 volunteers in projects to protect and enhance the environment. The organisation runs a variety of schemes ranging from one-day conservation projects to specialised international projects.

Blue Ventures Conservation
Blue Ventures Conservation is a UK based charity that is dedicated to developing projects that enhance coral reef conservation and research, with projects taking place in Madagascar, Tanzania and South Africa.

Client Earth
Founded in 2006, Client Earth is an independent environmental charity that uses the law to forge a better future for the earth and its people. Their staff includes a combination of lawyers and scientists working from London and Brussels who work to protect the environment through advocacy, lobbying litigation and research.

Coral Cay Conservation
Coral Cay Conservation requires volunteers to take an active part in gathering the data used to protect and manage threatened marine and forest environments. Marine Projects; Volunteers are required to conduct underwater coral reef surveys in Fiji, Central America and South East Asia. Full Scuba training is provided. Forest Projects; Volunteers required to collect biodiversity data (numbers and types of flora and fauna species) in order to increase the understanding of the ecology within the tropical rainforest within the Philippines. Please note; these expeditions are of a 'Trekking' nature.

The Eden Project
Based in Cornwall, the Eden Project welcomes over a million people every year to join in with their events and learn from their exhibits. The Environmental Law Foundation (“ELF”)
ELF is the national UK charity founded in 1992 that helps people use the law to protect and improve their local environment and quality of life. ELF provides free guidance and continuing support to those in need of assistance through their network of specialist lawyers.
ELF operates an internship programme for graduates / postgraduates and anyone who is interested in environmental issues, social justice and legal issues, and wishes to gain practical experience of working in the environmental legal sector by volunteering.

The Environment Trust
The Environment Trust is a UK-based charity and development trust committed to transforming people's living and working environments. Based in the East End of London, it was set up in 1979.
From the early days when the Trust transformed many local parks and green spaces into pleasant environments for residents to enjoy, it has expanded to encompass projects both in London and other parts of the UK. It led the £25 million transformation of Mile End Park and develops and manages workspace, environmental education and renewable energy projects.

Envision
Envision is an educational charity which inspires and enables young people to realise their capacity to make a difference through tackling environmental and social issues. The charity looks for volunteers who are able to assist for two hours a week assisting the Envision Youth Educators programme. Participation in the scheme involves supporting teams of young volunteers aged 16-19 to plan, set up and implement their own projects tackling social or environmental problems they identify in their schools and communities. You will be helping young people develop skills, gain confidence and explore their own potential to make a difference.

The Ethical Consumer
The Ethical Consumer Research Association is the UK's leading alternative consumer organisation and was formed in 1987. It is a non-profit organisation designed to promote human rights, environmental sustainability and animal welfare. Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens
City Farms and Community Gardens are locally based projects working with people, animals and plants. Each one is unique. The projects are all looking to become community-led and managed, empowering those involved through a sustainable approach to what they do. Many City Farms and Community Gardens are dependent on volunteers for their survival and development, as they often only have a few, if any, paid staff. Foundation for International Environmental
Law and Development (FIELD)
FIELD is a group of public international lawyers committed to helping vulnerable countries, communities and campaigners negotiate for fairer international environmental laws. FIELD was founded in 1989 and they work closely with local partners, national and international NGOs and institutions to achieve their goals.
FIELD run an internship programme provides its participants with practical training and insight into international legal issues relevant to environmental protection and sustainable development. It also gives valuable volunteer experience in a public interest organisation.

Friends of the Earth
Friends of the Earth campaigns for the protection of the environment and provides authoritative information and lobbies to change official policy on issues such as climate change, biodiversity and global trade. As well as a National Office based in London, Friends of the Earth has regional offices and a network of over 250 local groups, all of which rely on volunteer help.

Friends of the Peak District is an independent charity whose vision is of a living, working Peak District that changes with the time but remains beautiful forever. Vigilance and vigorous campaigning is needed however to ensure that the Peak District’s unique landscapes are safeguarded now and for future generations. Frontier
Frontier is the UK's leading conservation expedition organisation. Established in 1989, Frontier works in partnership with local governments, NGOs and communities to address urgent conservation issues in Fiji, Madagascar, Tanzania, Cambodia, and Nicaragua.
The organisation regularly recruits volunteers to work on long-term marine and terrestrial conservation projects, and on expeditions lasting four weeks and longer volunteers can gain BTEC qualifications in Tropical Habitat Conservation or Expedition Management. Internships are available in the London office and keep checking the website for overseas staff vacancies.

The Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme (“MWSRP”)
The MWSRP exists to facilitate whale shark research projects and to foster community focused conservation initiatives within the Maldives. The programme is a registered UK Charity that exists primarily through generous donations from private and corporate donors along with various sponsorship deals. The programme also has volunter opportunities available.
The pioneering research of the MWSRP into the demographics and movements of the whale shark population in the Maldives provides the scientific basis behind the programmes wider conservation goals.

The Marine Conservation Society (“MCS”)
The MCS is a UK charity dedicated to caring for our seas, shores and wildlife. It campaigns for clean seas and beaches, sustainable fisheries, protection of marine life and habitats, and the sensitive use of our marine resources for future generations.
Through education, community involvement and collaboration, MCS raises awareness of the many threats that face our seas and promotes individual, industry and government action to protect the marine environment. The National Trust
The National Trust works to preserve and protect the coastline, countryside and buildings of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. With 52,000 active volunteers a staggering 2.3 million hours of assistance was provided over the last 12 months alone. Opportunities range from working with historic buildings and gardens to gaining experience working at nature reserves, forests and archaeological sites.

The Ndoro Children’s Charities (“NCC”)
NCC is a UK registered charity that was established with the intention of helping children in developing countries with an initial focus on Zimbabwe. The aim of NCC is to highlight to the rest of the world the plight of Zimbabewan children and make a positive impact on their lives. Plans are underway to build an orphanage home, school and clinic in January 2010, which will give over 500 children access to education for the very first time.

A charity that needs no introduction. Oxfam are becoming increasingly involved in tackling environmental issues such as climate change and global warming, which opens up a lot of opportunities for volunteers! People’s Trust for Endangered Species (“PTES”)
PTSE are a conservation charity created in 1977 to ensure a future for endangered species throughout the world. There are always opportunities for volunteers, for example, the PTES are currently establishing a conservation group of volunteers to provide valuable help at their orchard reserve Rough Hill in Worcestershire. This group will carry out practical management work such as scrub clearance, path maintenance, tree planting, and conducting surveys.

Pesticides Action Network UK (“PAN UK”)

Surfers against Sewage
Surfers Against Sewage campaign for clean, safe recreational waters, free from sewage effluents, toxic chemicals and nuclear waste. The World Land Trust
The World Land Trust is an international conservation charity and since its foundation in 1989 has been working to preserve the world's most biologically important and threatened lands. To date The World Land Trust has helped purchase and protect over 375,000 acres of habitats rich in wildlife, in Asia, Central and South America and the UK.
The World Land Trust offers six-month internships based in Suffolk.
